From El Paso to Helsinki with love: Leijua, a Design Vision for an International StageLeijua – Helsinki New Museum of Architecture and DesignNow that the finalist proposals for the New Museum of Architecture and Design in Helsinki have been released, In*Situ is proud to share our own competition entry: Leijua.
Developed in collaboration with Penn State University, Texas Tech University El Paso, Kilo Structure, and The Dry Land, Leijua was one of 623 submissions from around the world. Rooted in Nordic maritime heritage, the design tells a material story — from stone to glass and copper to timber — and emerges from the harbor, shaped by culture, craft, and climate-conscious design. Leijua is a museum that floats — not just in name, but in concept and experience. It reimagines the museum as more than a building: a civic tool, a spatial story, and a platform for evolving design and public life. 🔗 Explore the project: Leijua – Helsinki New Museum of Architecture and Design Comments are closed.
