OUR HISTORYIn*Situ Architecture is the partnership of architects William Helm, AIA, and Edgar Lopez, AIA. The collaborative architectural practice was founded in 2011 by Helm with a philosophy of providing superior, personal architectural services to each of our clients in a climate of economic responsibility. In late 2012, Edgar Lopez joined Helm in the practice, bringing with him a wealth of expertise in the design of public sector and education buildings. Since 2012 Helm and Lopez have led In*Situ to the forefront of design firms in El Paso, winning numerous AIA design awards and growing the office to a full-time staff of eight.

About UsIn*Situ Architecture provides full architectural series focusing on contemporary design excellence for the Chihuahuan Desert Region. Our approach to design is not based on a pre-determined aesthetic or rigid "signature style." It is an approach that grows naturally from a quest for ideas and answers. Designs are never imposed but evolve from a rigorous inquiry into the particulars of site and program. Every new building, every adaptive reuse, every site must address and acknowledge a pre-existing context. At the same time, however, every structure and every intervention - whether radical or reverential - ultimately affects that context. At In*Situ, we are deeply responsive to content, material culture, and to the historical and physical environment of our region. Yet we believe that imitation subverts creativity – that replication does not produce art.
