ANTHONY YOUTH FARM + Farmers Market
In*Situ collaborated with Martina Lorey Architects on a design for the Anthony Youth Farm. The primary program goal of the Anthony Youth Farm is to foster economic development through small business growth in the community. The program involves teaching residents of the community, entrepreneurship and business skills as applied to different business sectors. The main focus is the agriculture sector, growing and selling a variety of products direct to the end-user. Other business sectors include retail, commercial nursery, value-added processing, and culinary arts/food service.
The project is divided into three phases consisting of three major buildings including classrooms, offices, a social hall, a commercial kitchen, cafe, workshop, gift shop, and even a greenhouse. The structures are organized to create a central communal space where a corrugated metal silo helps define the open space designated for the farmer's market and other community activities. This program will help build the community from the inside out and contribute to the community's economic development and social infrastructure. The construction for the first phase of this project was completed in 2017. |
